Weeping Willows

Weeping willows cry before me
Send the waters, I'm falling in the dust
Can't you hear me calling for you
I thought you knew I had no one else to trust

And the winds of justice brush against his face
Like a whip of a wind with nothing left to save
In the life of a free American doing the best he can

He said life's not fair
And sometimes you feel like you're alone
And all you can do is take it as it comes
When they hurl their sticks against you
Trampled underfoot like fallen leaves
Caught between the breezes of serendipity

Now it's a long long time for the windmills to stand
blown by the winds, steeped in the sands
Before the wheels of love begin

And the winds of justice beat against his back
Till the bend of his brow is deepened by the tracks
In the life of a free American doing the best he can

The wells of reason are long since gone
In the fight to win back what's been wronged
And all he can do is stand and face it
The troubled hand that's dealt him
Tired of fences torn and bridges sieged
Tipped by the scales of inequality

Now it's a long long time for the windmills to stand
blown by the winds, steeped in the sands
In the life of a free American doing all he can
And it's a long long time for the windmills to stand
blown by the winds, spinned on the sands
Before the wheels of love begin
